Step 01 · Order
Order your kit
Your DNA kit is $149, one time, with no subscription required. It arrives in 3 to 5 business days in the US, a little longer to Canada. Simple cheek swab collection, no blood draw, no clinic visit. Everything you need is in the box. US kits include a prepaid return mailer. Kits shipped to Canada do not: you pay the return postage (about CA$25 with Canada Post Tracked Packet) and fill in a short customs form, and yourtrait.com/sample-return walks you through it.
Produced by Dynamic DNA Labs, our CLIA-certified diagnostic partner (CLIA #26D2106631). Uses a standard buccal swab, the same method used in clinical genetic studies worldwide.
Step 02 · At home
Swab and send back
A 60-second cheek swab, after 30 minutes without eating, drinking or chewing gum. Seal the sample tube and mail it back (in the prepaid mailer on US kits). Your sample ships to our CLIA-certified partner lab in Springfield, Missouri.
The swab captures epithelial cells from inside your mouth. These cells carry your complete genome, the same DNA found in every cell of your body.
Step 03 · At the lab
We read your DNA
The lab genotypes 650,000+ data points from your sample, with a 99.82% call rate and 99.99% reproducibility. Lab analysis usually takes 2 to 4 weeks after the lab receives your sample, and sometimes longer. So far, most members have had their results 5 to 10 weeks after ordering the kit, and some have waited longer. The biggest variable is how soon the swab goes back in the mail, and returns from Canada take longer because they cross the border. Our proprietary engine then works through our panel of 48 curated formula markers across 11 biological categories, and a further 25 behind the wellness and lifestyle traits in your dashboard.
How many of these markers can be read from any one sample depends on the sample and on the lab's genotyping array: the array our lab uses from November 2026 does not carry two of the 48 formula markers, and your dashboard shows how many were read from yours. Categories: methylation, inflammation, vitamin D, glucose/insulin signaling, blood lipids, fat transport, oxidative stress, iron handling, vascular function, clotting, and metabolic efficiency. Every marker maps to peer-reviewed research.
Step 04 · Made to order
Your formula arrives
Your genetic profile is translated into a precise supplement formula, which you can order as the optional $159/mo membership, billed monthly, in 3-month minimum terms that renew until you cancel. It is made at an NSF cGMP-certified facility, which takes about 5 to 10 business days once production starts. One bottle. Custom-blended. Shipped to your door.
